Rapid Action Battalion RAB has arrested a youth named Ashiq in Naldanga, Natore, in a case of abducting a young woman after she refused to accept his love proposal.

RAB arrested and handed over to Naldanga police station from Burir Bhag area of the upazila this morning. On August 31, the girl’s father filed a case at Naldanga police station as a plaintiff. The arrested Ashiq (25) is the son of Sumon Ali of Burir Bhag village of the upazila.

NATO’s Rapid Action Battalion RAB-5 and Naldanga police sources said that Ashiq had been offering love to the young woman for a long time by tempting her for marriage. Not agreeing to this, the young woman was forcibly abducted from the upazila’s Yellow Ghar village around 6 am on August 29 and taken to CNG.

In this incident, the young girl’s father filed a case with Naldanga Police Station as the plaintiff under the Abduction, Prevention of Torture against Women and Children Act, making Ashiq the main accused. In this incident, a team of NATO’s Rapid Action Battalion RAB-5 arrested Ashiq from Burir Bhag area of the upazila and handed him over to Naldanga police station. Later the abducted girl was rescued. Assistant Superintendent of Police Nurul Huda confirmed this information.

Abul Kamal, officer-in-charge of Naldanga police station, said that Ashiq, the main accused in the kidnapping case, was sent to jail through the court this afternoon.
