Recently, there has been an increase in the sale and purchase of drugs in the hill districts, especially in Bandarban. Drug dealers have been smuggling liquor and other drugs illegally in various areas of Cox’s Bazar and Chittagong, neighboring districts of Bandarban, avoiding the eyes of the administration. As a result, the youth is getting addicted to drugs and getting involved in various crimes. At the same time many people are dying due to consumption of unscientific brewed liquor in remote hilly areas. RAB-15 is constantly conducting anti-narcotics operations to protect the youth of the country from the dreaded clutches of drugs and to prevent the spread of narcotics across the country.

In continuation of this, RAB-15, CPC-3 of Cox’s Bazar, Bandarban camp’s raiding team came to know on the basis of secret information that some drug dealers were stationed on the road in front of the LGED office of Ward No. 4 of Bandarban-Ruma Road under Sadar Thana of Bandarban Hill District to buy and sell drugs. doing On the basis of the said news, on 04 September 2023 at approximately 15.50 hours, a smart raiding team of RAB conducted a special anti-narcotics operation at the mentioned place. During the operation, a drug dealer named Mongkyong Marma was arrested when he realized the presence of RAB and tried to escape. A total of 18 liters of domestic brewed liquor was recovered from the custody of the arrested person in the presence of witnesses.

The details of the arrested drug dealer are known as Mongkyong Marma (24), father- Mui Thoai Pru Marma, mother-Ching Boang Pru Marma, Sang-Kalapara, Ward No. 04, Bandarban Municipality, Thana-Bandarban Sadar, District-Bandarban. During the interrogation, it is known that he has been trading domestically brewed liquor for several days by adopting different methods and sells domestically brewed liquor in various parts of the country including the neighboring districts of Bandarban. The aforesaid country-brewed liquor was seized by the raiding party of RAB while staying at the place for the purpose of shifting the auto-rickshaw to another place for sale.

A written statement has been submitted to Sadar Police Station of Bandarban district to take necessary legal action against the recovered liquor and drug dealers.
