The bride’s grandmother was killed in a clash between the bride and groom at the marriage house in Kurigram. Detained along with groom 12.

The grandmother of the bride was killed in a clash between the bride and groom over the bride’s jewelery at the wedding house in the proposed Kachakata upazila of Kurigram. In this incident, Kachakata police arrested 12 people including the groom and brought them to the police station. The name of the deceased is Tahuron Necha (70). The incident took place at the bride’s house in Goler Hat village of Kedar Union in Kachakata on Thursday (December 1).
According to the police and locals, Jasmine Akhtar, daughter of Nurjamal Islam of Goler village, got married to Raisul Islam Ripon, son of Alif Uddin of Ghuntighar area of Bangsonahat union of Bhurmannangamari upazila. The groom arrives at the bride’s house on Thursday evening. At the end of the feast, while decorating the bride, an argument arose between the two parties over the jewelry given by the groom. At one stage it turned into a conflict. Several people from the bride’s side were injured. Meanwhile, the bride’s grandmother Tahuron Nescha died on the way to the hospital with serious injuries. The bride Jasmine Akhtar said that the groom’s people beat my grandmother with a bed stand in front of my eyes. I want justice. I want the murderers to be executed. The bride’s mother Rupali Parveen said that the groom was supposed to give two gold ornaments. Not giving them while decorating the bride leads to a quarrel between the two parties. A fight later ensued. Meanwhile, they beat my mother-in-law and got seriously injured. He later died on the way to the hospital.
On getting the news, Kachakata police went to the spot at night and arrested 12 people including the groom and took them to the police station. Confirming the truth of the incident, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Kachakata police station Golam Mortuja said that a case has been registered in this regard.

Bangladesh Students Union, Kurigram District Parliament held a protest rally in Kurigram to protest the increase in the price of educational materials.
This student organization working on the rights of students held this program for two days on Thursday (December 1) afternoon and Friday (December 2) morning in front of the district government library near the college. During this time, half a hundred students of different schools and colleges were seen protesting by writing on banana leaves and kachu leaves.
General secretary of the organization’s district parliament, Ridwan Parv, and president Aniruddha Prannoy Tharnik, president of the organization, spoke in solidarity with the protest program, Bangladesh Students’ Union Rangpur district parliament’s assistant general secretary Abir Yaman, one of the organizers of Rajarhat police station branch and convener of Sakoa High School, Ratan Chandra Adhikari, district parliament. Speakers in the program said that the quality of the education system is decreasing day by day. In the next budget, 25 percent allocation should be given to the education sector. Besides, the colleges should activate the research work and reduce the cost of notebooks, paper and pens. Otherwise, a strict movement will be formed with the support of ordinary students.
