The only bridge connecting the people of Barisal Char Jagua area with the main city of Barisal has become unusable and the barren people of that area have been able to move for 7 years.
And the residents of Char Jagua area, an extended area of Ward No. 26, used to travel to Barisal city through the Vangachora bridge.
But for the past 7 years, the people concerned have not taken any initiative to rebuild the bridge.
Locals complained that the bridge broke 3 times due to the impact of the sand carrying bulkhead moving in the river. As compensation, the local councilor sought compensation through arbitration, but no work was done on the bridge. Unfortunately, a trawler has been given in the name of Durbhog Lagbe City Corporation but it is not plying regularly.
Local councilor Humayun Kabir claimed that the amount of fine imposed for the bridge was too low. With which it was not possible to bridge. This councilor also said that he does not know whether there will be development or not as the current council is ending.
A local named Asma Begum said, we residents of ward number 26 are in a helpless situation. Even after paying taxes to the city corporation, there is no development here. A local woman named Rahim regretted that the local councilor was the chairman before, but still there is no development.
Meanwhile, Mayor of Barisal City Corporation Serniabat Sadiq Abdullah said, if the residents of that area come to me and complain, then the matter will be taken seriously.
Charzagua area is home to thousands of neglected people within the extension of Barisal City Corporation area formed in 2002.
