Members of RAB-12 have arrested an active member of a human trafficking group named Abdul Majeed (49) from Ullapara of Sirajganj in a case filed on charges of extorting ransom by sending videos of torture and torture abroad to the victim’s family.

This was informed in a press release sent from the headquarters of Sirajganj RAB-12 on Wednesday (August 30) morning. He was arrested from Laheri Mohanpur market in Ullapara upazila on Tuesday night.

The arrested Abdul Majid is the son of deceased Chalam Pramanik of Nada village of Ullapara upazila.

In a press release, RAB said that the arrested Abdul Majeed and his accomplices are active members of organized human trafficking gang. They take different people of the country to different countries including Libya, Italy, Germany by talking about good quality work. Later they took all these people as hostages and trapped them and tortured them by showing fear. Later, the video of the victim’s torture was recorded on the mobile phone and sent to the victim’s family and demanded money as ransom. He threatened to kill the victim if the demanded money was not paid.

On August 20, Abdul Majeed was arrested in Ullapara Police Station in a case filed under the Drug Trafficking Act (Case No. 4/23). He has been handed over to Ullapara police station. RAB said that he will be sent to jail through the court on Wednesday.
