In Narayanganj’s Sonargaon upazila, Md. Rashedul Islam and Krishnachandra Debnath have been accused of submitting fabricated reports to the TCB dealership for not paying the bribe as demanded.

According to the victim, on February 15, 2022 a Modi shopkeeper named Raisha Varieties Store applied for a dealer license of Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) products through a pay order of Tk 5,000 from Sonali Bank.  Sonargaon Upazila Administrative Officer Md. Rashedul Islam and Collector Krishnachandra Debnath visited Mograpara Bazar of Mograpara Union on the ground.

Md. Rashedul Islam visited the TCB dealership and demanded a bribe of 6,00000 Taka from Jasim Uddin and gave it to Krishnachandra Debnath. On non-payment of money, he took money from Russell Ahmed and submitted a fabricated report to the Deputy Commissioner.  Despite all the documents being correct, the upazila administrative officer made a fabricated report against Raicha Varieties Store for bribery.  Raicha Varieties Store owner Jasim Uddin said, Krishnachandra Debnath asked for short form 6 bribes on mobile phone, 5 for Md Rashedul Islam and 1 for himself, saying that he would give the investigation report on our behalf. He submitted false report against my organization without receiving the demanded amount. Sonargaon Upazila Administrative Officer Md. Rashedul Islam could not be reached on the mobile phone despite several attempts to talk about it.
