A woman is missing in a boat sinking incident at Dudhkumar in Kurigram.
Fire service divers are working to rescue.

A woman named Nalo Begum (45) is missing after a boat carrying 25 passengers and goods sank in Dudhkumar river at Nageshwari in Kurigram. On Monday (January 16) at around 11 o’clock in the morning, the fire service diving team and locals are trying to rescue the woman who was missing in the incident.
Locals said, Dudhkumar river Muriya ghat in a boat with at least 25 passengers along with 20 maunds of paddy, 25 maunds of jute, 2 carts with horses and 7 bicycles and other goods left to come from the east side of the ghat to the west bank. The boat sank after leaving the wharf due to carrying more passengers and goods than the capacity of the boat. While the other passengers swam back to the shore, a 45-year-old woman named Nalo Begum remained missing. Nikhenaz Nalo Begum is the wife of disabled Noor Mohammad from Kuti area of Teliani in that union. He was returning from a relative’s house.
On receiving the information, a team of Nageshwari Fire Service went to the spot along with the locals and carried out rescue operations. Not found, Rangpur informs the diving team. Later, around 3:30 pm, the diving team of the fire service from Rangpur reached the spot and started rescuing the unidentified woman. But the missing woman has not been found till the writing of this report.
Nageshwari upazila executive officer Farzana Jahan admitted the truth of the incident and said that the diving team is working to find the missing woman from the scene.
