Three injured, including the land officer, who were attacked when they stopped cutting the soil with the dredger.

In Comilla’s Laksam town area, three persons including the assistant officer of Daulatganj land office were hacked and injured by the soil excavators for obstructing the illegal extraction of soil with dredger machines. It is alleged that the attackers snatched away their mobile phones. Locals rescued the people who were in critical condition at the scene and admitted them to the government hospital. The injured persons are – Daulatganj land office assistant (acting) officer Md. Nazmul Hasan, office assistant Jasim Uddin and Munsi Ataur Rahman. The incident took place on January 15, Sunday at 11 am in the Gaziramura area of Ward No. 7 of Laksam Municipality. After receiving the news, the police members of Laksam Police Station brought the situation under control. Daulatganj Municipal Area Land Office (Acting) Assistant Officer Nazmul Hasan filed a complaint at Laksam Police Station as a plaintiff in this incident. According to complaints and local sources, a force including Nur Alam Sohag, son of Abu Ishaq (Bock Company) of the local area, has been illegally extracting sand soil from agricultural land with dredgers for a long time in Gaziramura Mauza of Laksham Municipality. At first they bought a little agricultural land. Later, the soil was excavated through dredgers after impacting that land along with the surrounding land. After receiving this complaint, Nazmul Hasan, acting assistant officer of Daulatganj Municipal Land Office, went to stop the dredger and soil extraction on Sunday morning, along with two office assistants. At that time, when officials at the land office stopped the earth diggers, 8/10 men led by Sohag, son of Gaziramura Elkar Ishaq Miar (Bock Company), attacked them suddenly. The assailants hacked them and seriously injured them and took away their used mobile phones. Jasim Uddin, the office assistant who was injured in the attack, is in critical condition. Nazmul Hasan, an official at the land office that was attacked, said, “They were extracting soil illegally. I went to the spot and asked them to stop the dredger machine. In this, some of the soil diggers beat and injured me and two office assistants with local weapons and sticks. Our used mobile phones are taken away. I want them to be judged. Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Lands) Farhanur Rahman’s mobile number was called multiple times and his statement could not be obtained. Laksam Police Station Inspector (OC Investigation) Delwar Hossain said, “I have received a verbal complaint regarding the obstruction of government work. Besides, one person has been detained for questioning. If a written complaint is received, necessary action will be taken after investigation.
