Nomination papers must be submitted to the Election Commission (EC) by 4 pm. The nomination papers will be scrutinized from 10 am on Monday. Nomination papers can be withdrawn till 4 pm the next day. Then the country’s 22nd presidential election will be held on February 19 at the Jatiya Sangsad Complex from 2 pm to 5 pm. Due to the absolute majority of Awami League in the National Parliament, whoever will be nominated by this party will be elected unopposed as a single candidate. Party President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina was officially given the responsibility to finalize the candidate of Awami League for the post of President from the Awami League parliamentary party meeting on February 7. The opposition party in the parliament is not fielding candidates in this election.
