Raid on 3 brick kilns in Natore, Lalpur, Tk 19 lakh fine.

3 brick kilns in Lalpur Upazila of Natore were raided and fined a total of Tk 19 lakh for various reasons, including setting up brick kilns despite not having a permit from the Department of Environment.

The fined brick kilns are Tk 5 lakh at MKM kiln of Sabur Ali of Manjilpukur village of Lalpur upazila, Tk 7 lakh at JSB kiln of Hafizul Islam of the same area and Tk 7 lakh at HBR kiln of Masudur Rahman Santur of Madhavpur Palpara area.

Also, the brick kilns along with another drum kiln in Padmar Char area of Lalpur were crushed.

Dhaka Environment Directorate Enforcement Branch Executive Magistrate Faizunnecha Akhtar confirmed the truth of the incident and said that on Tuesday (January 17-23) from noon to 3 pm raids were conducted at 3 brick kilns in Natore’s Lalpur Upazila.

According to section 6 and 8 of the Brick Kiln Establishment and Control Act, 2013, fines are imposed for not having a licence, illegally collecting soil and using firewood and not having a zigzag furnace.

At that time Sukumar Saha, Assistant Director of NATO Environment Directorate and other members of the administration were present.
