Net’ is a new source of laughter in Jatrapur, Kurigram.

The organization ‘Youth Net’, which works on climate rights and environment, has provided relief assistance to more than two hundred char residents who have suffered floods and river erosion this year. On Sunday (December 25) these reliefs are among 200 families who have taken shelter in a new char that arose in the middle of the Brahmaputra river in Jatrapur Union of Kurigram Sadar. Aid was distributed. Blankets, sanitary latrines, tubewells, tarpaulins, cash for soil elevation, sewing machines and various vegetable seeds were given as relief materials. Chairman Jatrapur Union Parishad (UP) announced the name of Char Youth Net in the name of the organization. Abdul Ghafoor.
He said, we who live in the grasslands have to struggle every day to survive. We have to fight against nature including storms, floods, winters and droughts to make a living. We are happy to get the new name of the char who has woken up. Sohanur Rahman, executive coordinator of Youth Net, said, “We are working with the rights of victims in all climates of Bangladesh.” Having worked in Haor, sea and mountain areas, I have seen that the people of Kurigram are suffering the most compared to the environment there. We will work on the development of fodder in this region along with the climate. Sujan Mohant, coordinator of the Kurigram district team of the organization, said that there are 420 char-dwipchars in Kurigram. Besides, another new char is in the name of our organization. We want to do more here.
Beneficiary Shahina Begum said, ‘I used to work in people’s homes. Walking was very difficult. It would be very helpful for me to get the sewing machine. I will be able to pay for the education of my two daughters. Youth Net event and program coordinator SZ Apu, network development coordinator Zimran Mohammad Sayek, Gaibandha district team coordinator Rover Maruf Hasan, Jatrapur UP member Rahim Uddin Haider Ripon and others were present.
