Due to outstanding electricity bill of Kurigram municipality of Tk 4 crore 82 lakh, the electricity connection has been disconnected.  This connection of the municipality was severed on Sunday morning.

Northern Electricity Supply Company Limited (NESCO) Executive Engineer Md Alimul Islam Salim is confirming this information on Sunday (March 5) afternoon.  It is known that the office is running without electricity.  Even though the afternoon has passed, the electricity connection has not been connected yet.

The executive engineer said that the district administration and police administration have discussed with our higher authorities.  The mayor has promised to pay 10 lakhs within the next week.  And a written undertaking to pay all the bills of the current month and to pay the outstanding bills consecutively.

He also said that due to non-payment of bills regularly since the birth of the municipality, so much money is outstanding.

Kurigram Municipality Mayor Kajiul Islam is confirming the truth of the incident.  He said that NESCO disconnected the electricity bill due to the outstanding amount of Rs.  It has been said that the electricity bill will be paid.  Coming before evening we will get electricity connection.
