366 posts of head teachers of government primary schools are vacant for a long time in Kurigram.  As a result, the educational program is being disrupted in all those schools.  Due to the shortage of teachers, there has been a standstill in administrative activities including teaching of young students.

There are a total of 1,240 government primary schools in 9 upazilas of Kurigram district.  Among these schools, 366 schools have vacancies for head teachers.  Among them, from 2017, 1 assistant teacher in 234 schools was given the current responsibility as head teacher.  But still there are 132 schools without head teachers.  As a result, these schools have become guardianless.  On the other hand, the assistant teachers who are currently in charge of the head teacher are not getting any facilities and status even though they are performing two duties at the same time.  There is no government directive in this regard.  They are performing duties through frustration.  In this situation, supervision of assistant teachers, monitoring of class activities, regular teaching and administrative activities are also being disrupted.
