 Supershop for the poor has started in Kurigram district on the initiative of Vidyananda Foundation, the country’s top voluntary organization.  Today on January 3, a different market was organized in Char Suvarkuti village of Holokhana union of Kurigram district.  From this market, the poor people have been able to buy daily necessities including rice, dal, oil, flour, eggs, salt at a nominal price.  About 250 families have benefited through this.  1 kg rice for 1 taka, 1 kg dal for 2 taka, 1 liter oil for 3 taka.  In this way, every family can buy various products from this super shop at a nominal price.  Each family can buy a maximum of Tk 10 products whose market value is around Tk 600-700.

 Basically poor people are given the freedom to choose products through this special market.  Kurigram District Commissioner Mohammad Saidul Arif was present as the chief guest in Vidyananda’s humanitarian interfaith event under the chairmanship of board member Jamal Uddin, special guests were Kurigram Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer Md Rashedul Hasan, Holokhana Union Parishad Chairman Md Rezaul Karim and others.

 On the same day, the education program of the newly built Hazrat Aisha RA Orphanage started at Vidyananda’s own place.  About one hundred poor orphan girls will have the opportunity to study and stay in the three-storey building.  In the event, the students of the orphanage were formally accepted by providing educational materials.  Vidyananda Foundation is building orphanages for poor and orphaned children in different areas of the country.  In continuation of this, the formal activities of this three-storey orphanage in Kurigram district as the seventh orphanage started.  In addition to the Super Shop program for the poor, the Vidyananda Foundation organized cooking for nearly a thousand people in one of the country’s largest Patils located in Kurigram and distributed the food among the poor people.
