Inauguration of rail track extension work from Kurigram to Ulipur.

Renewal of rail track from Kurigram to Ulipur and re-construction work including approach road and parking of railway station has been inaugurated. Professor MA Matin, Member of Parliament for Kurigram-3 Constituency, inaugurated this work at Ulipur Railway Station organized by Bangladesh Railway Lalmonirhat Division on Tuesday afternoon.

Bangladesh Railway Rajshahi General Manager (West) Asim Kumar Talukder, Chief Engineer (West) Asadul Haque, Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Saidul Arif, Superintendent of Police Al Asad Md Mahfuzul Islam, Lalmonirhat Divisional Railway Manager Abdus Salam and others were present.

 Reconstruction work will be done for Kurigram Express up to Ulipur railway station, meter gauge steel sleeper rail line-19km at Okath, 3 at Kurigram station and a branch rail line at Ulipur station at a cost of about 30 crore 70 lakh 68 thousand 300 rupees.  Biswas Construction will implement this work in a period of one and a half years.  Bangladesh Railway Rajshahi Kurigram Deputy Commissioner Saidul Arif said that if this project is implemented, the Kurigram Express will be able to run directly from Ulipur to Dhaka by rail in the future.  This will help the poor people of Kurigram to communicate with the capital at a low cost.
