Boro paddy is being planted in 50 acres of land in Laksam Upazila of Comilla this year with the help of rice transplanter machine in modern method of modern farming. On the one hand, as the cost of farming is reduced for the farmer, on the other hand, the yield will also increase. Besides, farmers will be freed from the suffering of agricultural labor crisis and the work of farming will be completed soon. On Saturday (January 28) afternoon, the planting of rice seedlings was inaugurated in Narpati area of Laksam East Union of the upazila. In the land of farmer Zahid Majumdar of North Narpati village of the upazila, paddy cultivation was inaugurated using modern methods. At this time, hundreds of farmers and enthusiastic people of the village flocked to see the planting process. According to the upazila agriculture office, 150 acres of land in the upazila will be cultivated in this way during the current Boro season. Agriculture Extension Department officials say – this method will reduce the cost of farming. The yield will increase. Besides, the time to get mature rice will also decrease. It is possible to plant seedlings of the right age of the day. As a result the lifespan of paddy is reduced by 10-15 days. Moreover, with the help of machine planting, it is possible to plant seedlings at the correct depth. Due to which the number of cells per cluster is high. Overall yield increases by 10-15 percent. Deputy Assistant Plant Protection Officer Ali Ahmed also addressed the gathering, Agriculture Extension Officer Mohammad Rubel Mia, Union Awami League General Secretary Professor Shahid Ullah, Narpati Bhumukhi High School Principal Mahbub Alam, Deputy Assistant Agriculture Officer Nazim Uddin, Abdul Awal, Jahangir Salim, Roknuzzaman Majumder, President of the 50-acre Samalaya Cultivation Committee, General Secretary Sheikh Zahid Hossain Majumder and others. At this time, more than 200 farmers were present, including the beneficiary farmers.
