Human chain to stop illegal sand mining in (Natore), Lalpur.

In Natore’s Lalpur, the locals staged a human chain and protest march demanding the withdrawal of false and conspiratorial cases against the locals for stopping the illegal extraction of sand filling from the Padma river and blocking the extraction of sand. Shafiqul Islam Swapan, former organizing secretary of Upazila Awami League, Shukur Ali, vice president of Ishwardi Union Jubo League and local Awami League leader Sajjad Hossain Sumon spoke at the human chain held at Lakshipur Bazar area of Lalpur-Ishwardi road of the upazila on Monday (January 23). The speakers said that instead of extracting sand-fill from the upazila’s Padma river in the leased area, as a result of illegal extraction of sand in various mauzas, Rooppur nuclear power plant, Ishwardi EPZ, Pakshi Huding Bridge, proposed economic zone of Lalpur upazila, river bank protection dam, cropland, houses Padma There is a danger of disappearing into the river. When the locals protested, the sand miners fired at them to create panic. Later, the local administration temporarily stopped sand mining, but the sand miners filed a case in the name of the locals and prepared to resume sand mining.
