Fraud in the name of providing employment in ocean-going ships in Bagatipara Press conference of victims to seek redress.

A fraudster named Imdadul Haq has been accused of cheating by offering a job on a sea-going ship in Bagatipara of Natore. He is the son of deceased Waj Mandal of Chakatkinagar village of upazila. The victims held a press conference claiming that they had taken about 15 lakh rupees with the lure of jobs at different times. 6 victims and their family members attended a press conference held at the Upazila Press Club on Wednesday (January 25) night and demanded it. Among the victims, Mizanur Rahman Sujan, son of Mojibur Rahman of Chowk Takinagar area (paid Tk 3 lakh for the job 2 years ago), Imamul Islam, son of Anshar Ali (Tk 550,000 for the job), Abul Hossain’s son Mojibur Rahman (Tk 115,000 for the job) ), Farhad Ali’s son Ahidur Rahman of Chakgoash area (50 thousand for job), Arshed Ali’s wife Shahara Begum (Tk 3 lakh as loan), Ahmed Ali’s son Abdul Ali of Solipara area (Tk 125 thousand for job) are among them. Among the victims, Mizanur Rahman Sujan said, “I was cheated and filed a complaint at the police station on the 7th of this month. When I posted about this on Facebook, SI Shibli Zaman came to my house and took my phone. After seeing my Facebook post, the rest of the victims present have also been duped.” Accused Imdadul Haque claimed, “The charges brought against me are not correct. There is no money for giving jobs. But they took some money from some of my relatives to do business.” In this regard, Sirajul Islam, OC of Bagatipara Model Police Station said, I have received a written complaint against Imdadul for embezzlement.
