Chilmari Bank Conservation Project Area of ​​Kurigram. Human chain against Balumhal declaration plot.

 A human chain has been formed against the plan to continue sand extraction and declaration of sandbank, endangering the bank protection project on the right bank of Brahmaputra river in Chilmari upazila of Kurigram.

 On Tuesday (January 3) at 12 noon in front of the Kurigram Press Club, the Railway-Navy, Communications and Environmental Development People’s Committee Chilmari branch organized an hour-long human chain on the Kurigram-Chilmari road.

 Deldar Hossain, Shahidul Islam, Alimuddin, Badsha Mia, Noor Amin and Haider Ali spoke on behalf of the victims.  On behalf of the people’s committee, district committee member Abdul Quader, organizing secretary of Chilmari people’s committee Jamirul Islam, member engineer Rahmat Ali and others.

 Speakers said that an influential group is extracting sand by leaning on agricultural land, biodiversity including fish-dolphin-birds, industrialization of mineral resources and Chilmari shore conservation project.  This circle is plotting Balumhal Ghoshana to endanger Brahmaputra’s right wing to serve their own interests.  The Chilmari People’s Committee protested against the affected farmers.
