In Kurigram Sadar Upazila, a rare species of sea elphis fish was caught in a dry net.
People eager to see the fish thronged the house of the fish hunter.
The fish was caught in the Chowdhury Para area of Bhogdanga Union of Sadar on Wednesday (August 30) morning.
The fish weighs 4 kg and is about 3 and a half feet long.
Local Rabiul Islam said that Hossain Ali, Anwar Hossain, Abdul Karim and
Manik Mia. This morning the fish named Ilfis was caught in their net. When they brought the fish home, eager crowds flocked to Farooq’s house to catch a glimpse.
Md Farooq Hossain, a fisherman said, I have never seen such fish in my life. The fish got caught in my straw net this morning. Later I found out that the fish can be eaten.
Kurigram District Fisheries Officer Md. Moktazir Khan said, this fish is more common in coastal areas. It is coming here for some reason. These fish can be eaten.
