2 brick kilns fined Tk 6 lakh in Kurigram.

A mobile court in Rajarhat of Kurigram conducted a raid and collected a fine of 6 lakh rupees from 2 brick kilns. It is known that on Monday (February 27) Department of Environment, Kurigram District Office and District Administration, Kurigram jointly initiated a mobile court against 2 brick kilns located in Rajarhat Upazila of Kurigram for violating the Brick Making and Kiln Installation (Control) Act, 2013. At that time a fine of Rs.5,00,000/-(Five lakhs) was levied on the brick kiln named M/s D.K Bricks and Rs.1,00,000/-(one lakh) from the brick kiln named M/s AD Bricks. Directorate of Environment, Rangpur Divisional Office Director and learned Executive Magistrate Syed Farhad Hossain and Rajarhat Upazila Nirbahi Officer Noore Tasnim led the raid and Senior Chemist of Environment Directorate, Rangpur District Office Hasan-e-Mubarak served as prosecutor.
A group of members of Rajarhat Police Station and Fire Service and Civil Defense assisted in the operation. Sources of Kurigram District Environment Department said that this type of campaign against illegal brick kilns without environmental clearance will continue.
