1,565 crore 54 lakhs worth of contraband seized in 2022 in BGB operation.

Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) in 2022 (from January to December) has been able to seize various types of smuggled goods, narcotics and arms and ammunition worth a total of 1,565 crore 54 lakh 36 thousand taka in raids in the border areas of the country. The seized drugs include 1,27,78,100 pieces of Yaba tablets, 77 kg 690 grams of crystal meth ice, 3,16,157 bottles of Phencidyl, 1,82,932 bottles of foreign liquor, 4,064 liters of Bengali liquor, 37,126 cans of beer, 28,672 kg of ganja, 72 kg of 159 grams of heroin, 4,98,754 intoxicants and stimulant injections, 6,55,940 Enegra/Senegra tablets, 76,561 iscaf syrup, 13 kg of 425 grams of opium, 84, 55,562 different types of medicines, 13,562 bottles of Mkdil/Cofidil and 28,10,063 other tablets. Other contraband items seized include 194 kg 993 grams of gold, 279 kg 162 grams of silver, 1,57,309 sarees, 59,939 threepieces/shirtpieces, 21,068 ready-made garments, 4,141 meters of thana cloth, 21,55,094 Cosmetics materials, 30,695 cubic feet of wood, 73,176 kg of tea leaves, 6,21,013 kg of coal, 35,223 cubic feet of stone, 1,25,750 imitation ornaments, 31 rough stone statues, 1,699 kg of car jalent, 152 kg 500 gm tortoise bones, 73 trucks/covered vans, 44 private cars/microbuses, 106 pickups, 340 CNG/easybikes and 824 motorcycles. Arms recovered during the same period include 46 pistols, 9 rifles, 5 revolvers, 79 guns of all types, 5,345 rounds of ammunition, 25 magazines, 24 mortar shells, 1 artillery/rocket shell/bomb, 20 cocktails, 45 shisha/shisha balls, 51 empty shells and 999.600 kg explosive-like material. Also, legal action has been taken against 2,953 people accused of involvement in various types of drug trafficking and other smuggling, including Yaba, and 2,085 Bangladeshi nationals and 117 Indian nationals for illegally crossing the border in 2022. Note that in 2021, smuggled goods worth Tk 1,073 crore were seized by the BGB. Accordingly, in 2022, more than 500 crore worth of smuggled goods have been seized.
