The Department of Secondary and Higher Education said that books will be handed over to the students in a festival on January 1. The Ministry of Education, Ministry of Primary and Mass Education, Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education of the Ministry of Education and related departments and all educational institutions of the country have given instructions to celebrate in a stylish atmosphere on Wednesday (28th December). According to the department’s order, ‘Textbook Festival Day-2023’ will be celebrated on January 1 to distribute new textbooks to students across the country in the academic year 2023. All the concerned parties are requested to organize the ‘Textbook Festival Day-2013’ event in a fair, beautiful, orderly and festive atmosphere in secondary level educational institutions under the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education. Sources from the Ministry of Education said that the central book festival of the secondary school will be held in the grounds of Kapasia Pilot High School in Gazipur. And it is known from the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education that the primary book festival will be centrally held at the central playground of Dhaka University (DU). It is known that about 35 crore textbooks are being printed in the academic year 2023 for 4 crore 9 lakh 15 thousand students at primary and secondary level. Among these, 9 crore 98 lakh 53 thousand copies of pre-primary, primary and Ibtedayi books are being printed and 24 crore 63 lakh 10 thousand copies of school, madrasa and technical books are being printed at the secondary level. 2 lakh 12 thousand 177 copies of books in the mother tongue of small ethnic groups are being printed. It should be noted that in the last two years in 2021 and 2022, it was not possible to organize the book festival on the first day of the year due to the corona epidemic.
