Switzerland Embassy officials visited various development activities in Bagerhat and Khulna.

Khulna Officials of the Swiss Embassy in Dhaka visited Bagerhat and Khulna in various ongoing projects in cooperation with the Swiss government. Corinne Henchoz Pignani, Deputy Head of Cooperation of the Embassy of Switzerland and Sabina Yasmin Lubna, Program Manager of the Embassy of Switzerland held a meeting with the public representatives and officials of the Mongla Port Municipality on Wednesday morning. The councilors and officials of the municipality were present in the meeting held under the chairmanship of Acting Mayor Shafiqur Rahman Khan. Later the embassy officials visited the waste dumping space of Mongla Port Municipality. They spoke to the municipal cleaners there and requested the municipal authorities to improve waste management. Mongla Port Municipality’s waste management has been provided by the project ‘Emergency Rehabilitation Initiative for Population Affected by Corona Epidemic’ (Emergency Rehabilitation Initiative for Population Affected by Corona Epidemic) in collaboration with the Government of Switzerland. Later, the embassy officials held a meeting with the women leaders of the Aparajita project, which was conducted to transform Digraj Degree College, and inquired about the overall situation in the area in terms of women’s political empowerment. In the afternoon, the embassy officials spoke to the small entrepreneurs at Sonadanga Mylapota Harijan Colony in Ward No. 17 of Khulna metropolis. Scream project has provided training to these entrepreneurs as well as financial support. Officials of the Swiss Embassy in Dhaka visited the Laupala shelter project in Bagerhat on Tuesday afternoon. Here, 63 families out of 65 families who got houses given by the Prime Minister during the Mujib year have been given training as well as financial support by Scream project. Applauding the struggle of the grassroots people affected by Corona to become self-reliant, the embassy officials called upon the entrepreneurs to work harder to improve their fortunes and play a role in increasing their income by using their talents.
