Protest march and rally of Communist Party held in Chandpur against gas price hike and commodity price hike.

A protest meeting was held on 27th January at 4:30 PM in the swearing area of the city by the initiative of Chandpur District Committee of Bangladesh Communist Party to protest against the rise in commodity prices, to protest against the increase in gas prices and to demand voting rights and employment. After the protest, a protest march circled the important roads of the city and ended at Chitralekha intersection. Chandpur District Communist Party President Comrade Zakir Hossain Miyaji spoke in the chair, District Communist Party General Secretary, Bangladesh Youth Union Chandpur District Committee President and Central Presidium Member Comrade Jahangir Hossain spoke. Matlab Upazila Communist Party Leader Harunur Rashid, Chandpur Municipal Ward No. 13 Leader Shahin Pradhaniya spoke among others. The meeting was presided over by former student leader Pranab Ghosh. In the meeting, Comrade Zakir Hossain Miyaji said that people are disorientated and crushed by the unbridled increase in commodity prices. Meanwhile, new gas price hikes are going on. On the other hand, continuous price increase on the other hand is curtailing the freedom of speech, which is undemocratic. The suffering of people is sky high. People are now completely calm. The government is on the brink of fascism. So no one’s statements and claims are ignored. The state cannot be run like this. So the Communist Party should be brought to power to bring back the normal life of the people. Otherwise the fate of people will not change.
