MP Abdul Quddus is buried in eternal sleep next to his parents’ graves

Member of Parliament for Natore-4 Constituency and District Awami League President Abdul Quddus was buried next to the grave of his parents in Bilsha village of Gurdaspur.
On Thursday (August 31) at 2 o’clock in the afternoon, his funeral was held at the Bilsha Eidgah ground.

The politician died at 7:22 am on Wednesday (August 29) under treatment at the United Hospital in the capital. He was suffering from shortness of breath for a long time. 77-year-old Abdul Quddus was born in Bilsha village.

Ibrahim Hossain, personal assistant of Abdul Quddus, said that three rounds of prayers were held in separate places before the last prayer. The first was held at Sangsad Bhavan Chattar Mosque, followed by Baraigram Pilot School Grounds and Gurdaspur Government Pilot High School Grounds.

His body was brought from Sangsad Bhavan Chatwar Mosque to his residence in Chanchkoid of Gurdaspur Upazila in the evening. Seeing him there, his relatives and political comrades burst into tears.

He was cremated with state honors at the Baraigram Pilot School grounds. He was given a guard of honor there. Deputy Speaker Advocate Samsul Haque Tuku, Awami League President Mandoli Member and Rajshahi City Mayor AHM Khairuzzaman Liton, Organizing Secretary SM Kamal, State Minister for Information and Technology Junaid Ahmed Palak, Member of Parliament for Sadar Constituency Shafiqul Islam Shimul, Member of Parliament for Lalpur Bagatipara Shahidul Islam Bakul were present at the funeral prayers. , Reserved MP Ratna Rahman, District A. League General Secretary Shariful Islam Ramzan, District Administrator Abu Naser Bhunya, Superintendent of Police Tariqul Islam and others were present.

Mazem Ali, information and research secretary of Upazila A.League, said that Abdul Quddus was taken to Dhaka by ambulance last Saturday (August 26) evening due to breathing problems. There, he was taken to the intensive care unit (ICU) as oxygen levels dropped. He was under treatment there until his death. At the time of his death, he left behind a wife, 1 daughter and 1 son and numerous devotees.

It should be noted that Abdul Quddus was nominated 7 times by Awami League and was elected as a member of Parliament 5 times (fifth, seventh, ninth, tenth and eleventh National Parliament). In the seventh Parliament, he served as the Minister of State for Fisheries and Animal Resources. Abdul Quddus, who obtained his master’s degree from Rajshahi University, trained in India during the Liberation War and played the role of regional commander and organizer of Mujib’s forces.
