Khulna The inauguration of the 51st Sub-Regional School, Madrasah and Technical Education Winter Sports Competition-2023 was held today (Friday) morning at the Khulna Zilla School ground. Khulna Divisional Commissioner (in charge) Md. Abdur Rashid was the chief guest on the occasion. The chief guest said in his speech that sports is one of the ways to build a successful life. Sports are very important to keep the body healthy. It is not possible to be mentally healthy if the body is not healthy. Our boys and girls are turning away from sports because of social affiliation. Apart from this, young people are getting involved in various anti-social activities including mobile addiction, drugs, youth gangs, leaving sports. There is no substitute for sports to bring them back. Such sports competitions become gatherings and fun fairs for the players. He expressed hope that good athletes will emerge from this competition. Additional Deputy Commissioner (Education and ICT) Mukul Kumar Maitra spoke as a special guest on the occasion under the chairmanship of Deputy Director of Khulna Secondary and Higher Education Department Mr. Ruhul Amin. District education officers of 10 districts of Khulna and head teachers of various schools were present on the occasion. The event was organized by Sub-Regional School, Madrasa and Technical Education Sports Association Khulna Region.

General meeting of Khulna Press Club.

Khulna The first meeting of the 2023 General Council of Khulna Press Club was held on Friday morning at the club’s Humayun Kabir Balu Auditorium. Club president SM Nazrul Islam presided over and general secretary Mamun Razor conducted the meeting, treasurer SM Kamal Hossain presented the club’s budget for 2023 and it was unanimously approved. Apart from this, several important issues including development of the club were decided in the meeting. Former President of Khulna Press Club Maqbul Hossain Mintu, Ahmad Ali Khan, SM Zahid Hossain and Farooq Ahmed, former General Secretary Md. Saheb Ali, Mallik Sudhanshu and Hasan Ahmed Molla, Vice President Md. Munsi Mahbub spoke in the meeting. Alam Sohag, executive member Md Shah Alam, Md Abdul Halim, club member Amiya Kanti Pal, Sheikh Kamrul Ahsan, Md Hedayet Hossain Molla, Sheikh Abdullah etc.

Fishermen attacked by tigers in Sundarbans.

Khulna A fisherman named Anukul Gain (42) was seriously injured in a tiger attack in Sundarbans. On Friday morning, he was attacked by a tiger while hunting fish at the head of the Sila Canal in Sudhir, West Amurbunia, East Sundarbans. Cousin Nidhir Gain, who was with the injured Anukul, said that Anukul Gain, son of Mukund Gain of Amurbania village, and Mahbub Sheikh (35), son of neighbor Barek Sheikh (35), were fishing with a fishing rod in Sila area of Sudhir in the morning. At this time, a tiger coming from the Sundarbans on the bank of the canal suddenly attacked Anukul. 15 to 20 people of the nearby Amrbunia village went to the forest and rescued Anukul at the call of Mahbub who was with him. He was admitted to Morelganj Upazila Health Complex Hospital around 12:30 PM. Injured Anukul, unmarried, has only elderly mother Kumudini Gain (90) in her family. Upazila Health Complex family planning officer Dr. Kamal Hussain Mufti said that Anukul Gain got two deep wounds on the right side of his waist in the tiger attack. He was quickly shifted to Khulna Medical College Hospital for advanced treatment with first aid. In this regard Morelganj Jiudhara Forest Station Officer Md. Shajahan Ali said that Anukul Gain, who was injured in the tiger attack, was rescued by the locals and taken to the hospital. We are looking for him.
