Illegal 20,000 meters of current nets were seized and destroyed by fire in Dakop, Khulna.

Khulna 20,000 meters of illegal and harmful current nets destroying fisheries in Khulna’s Dakop have been seized and destroyed by fire. The Upazila Task Force Committee seized 20,000 meters of illegal current nets in Dakop’s Chunkuri and Pasur rivers in coordination with the Bangladesh Naval Police on Thursday afternoon. It was later destroyed by fire on the river bank in front of the Red Star Hatchery of Chalan Municipality. Upazila Senior Fisheries Officer Salim Sultan, Marine Fisheries Officer Vipul Kumar Das, Upazila Assistant Fisheries Officer Badal Krishna Saha, Field Assistant Tofail Ahmed and other officers-employees of the Fisheries Department and Naval Police were present at this time.
