Various areas of Batiaghata, Dakop, Dumuria upazila of the district can be seen, the trees on the road side and in the houses have blossomed at a large rate. Some trees are also caught. Every year the number of trees is increased. One tree yields only once a year. Last year, he sold 19 trees for Tk 50,000. He said, this year the yield of the trees is better than last time. Last year at this time due to natural calamities, the flowers had already fallen. It was possible to sell for more than 50 thousand rupees with what was there. The peddlers (peddlers) have already started moving. Bargaining is also going on. But the sajne is only emerging from the flower. Can’t be sold unless it’s a little bigger. This time he hopes to be able to sell for 70-80 thousand rupees. Kazi Humayun Kabir, a fisherman of Shobna Union of Dumuria Upazila, said that there are 40-50 trees in the lane of his enclosure. All the trees have flowers. Some trees are also caught. This gentleman of Gherer Aile is expecting a good yield from the tree this time. He said that various vegetables are cultivated in most of the perimeter lanes of Dumuria upazila. But it requires a lot of effort and expense. But there is no cost to the tree. After ripening, the branches can be cut and dried for a few days and replanted. It yields next year. Anwar Hossain, a farmer of Chuknagar area of the same upazila, said that although you can make a profit by growing vegetables, you don’t need to spend any effort on the trees. So now many trees have been planted in the alleys and fallow land around the house and have yielded. Especially in this upazila there are 12 masi sajan tree nurseries. By collecting seedlings from there, many people have also built gardens with them. Sajne is a very popular vegetable in the area due to its edible and medicinal properties. As soon as it comes to the market, it is sold at the rate of 400 taka per kg. Batiaghata Upazila Agriculture Officer Rabiul Islam said that sajn is a cash crop on the one hand and a reservoir of nutrients on the other. However, the agriculture department does not provide any assistance or advice to the farmers in this regard. Farmers can increase the number of trees on their own initiative.
