Poisoned fish is harmful to health. Apart from that, when the fish are caught with medication, even small insects including fish die. Biodiversity is also severely damaged. So fishing like this should be stopped.

The breeding season of fish in Sundarbans rivers runs from June 1 to August 31 every year. During these three months, all types of entry into the Sundarbans are prohibited. Fishermen are prohibited from entering the protected areas throughout the year. But a section of fishermen does not obey any restrictions. Fishermen poison the forest canals and catch fish. Some local influential people and some leaders have support behind these jails. These fish are being sold to local fishermen every day.

Additional DIG (Crime Management) of Khulna range in an exchange meeting with leaders of Sundarban related professionals, local Sudhi Samaj and journalists and other professional organizations of the upazila organized by the police station at Mongla police station premises at 11 am under the chairmanship of police officer in charge Mohammad Samsuddin. Jaydev Chowdhury said these things.

He also said that if poison is added to the water of the canal, the water becomes poisonous, then the fishes float and die. The fishermen caught that fish in a short time. This not only kills fish but also other aquatic animals. The biodiversity of the Sundarbans has suffered a major loss. Again, people are also harmed by eating poisoned fish. There is no end to our pride in Sundarbans, part of world heritage. But our negligence in protecting and developing these forests is more than that. Poisoning of fish in Sundarbans canals must be stopped immediately. Strict action should be taken against those who are helping illegal fishing despite being responsible for protecting the Sundarbans.

It is impossible to protect the natural balance if we cannot protect the forest and animals. If animals and forests are not protected, it will not be possible to maintain the overall natural balance of the country. Therefore, experts have insisted on protecting natural forests to protect wildlife.

Mongla Upazila Parishad Chairman Abu Taher Howladar, Bagerhat Superintendent of Police KM Ariful Haque, Mongla Upazila Awami League President Sunil Kumar Biswas, General Secretary Ibrahim Hossain, Mongla Municipal Awami League President and Mongla Port Municipality Mayor Bir Muktijodha Sheikh Abdur Rahman, Upazila Executive Officer Dipankar Das, Assistant Superintendent of Police Mushfiqur Rahman Tushar, Rampal Thana Officer-in-Charge SM Ashraful Alam, Chairman of various Union Parishads of Mongla Upazila, surrendered pirates, fishermen dependent on Sundarbans, Maual, owners/drivers of various watercraft carrying tourists, leaders of Mongla Bazar Merchants Association and Journalists working in various print and electronic media of Mongla Upazila and civil society representatives were present in this exchange meeting.
