R.A Rashed, Sariakandi (Bogura) Representative: The Great Victory Day was celebrated with due dignity at Sariakandi in Bogura with various programmes. On Friday morning, the day started with 31 gunshots at 1 minute in the premises of the central Shaheed Minar of the upazila. On the day, MP Sahadara Mannan of Bogra-1 Constituency, Upazila Parishad Chairman Rezaul Karim Montu Mandal and Upazila Executive Officer (UNO) Mohammad Rezaul Karim laid wreaths on behalf of the local administration. After the wreath laying by the police administration, local political party organizations, all press clubs and various educational institutions, a parade, display and various competitions were organized at the Sariakandi Degree College ground under the initiative of the Sariakandi Upazila administration.

Son Dies After Trying to Save Electrocuted Father in Sariakandi.

A man slipped and fell on an electric wire while hoisting the national flag on the roof of a mosque on the occasion of Victory Day in Sariakandi, Bogura. While trying to save him, his son Shafi Rahman (27) died due to electrocution. According to Sariakandi police station sources, the incident took place in Dighalkandi village of Sadar Union on Friday morning. The deceased Shafi Rahman is the son of Mahfuzar Rahman of that village. Mahfuzar was sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital’s burn unit from Bogra SZRMC Hospital for advanced treatment.

Sariakandi police station sub-inspector Khokon Chandra said, Muazzin Mahfuzar Rahman of Dighalakandi Jame Masjid climbed to the roof of the mosque to hang the national flag in the morning on the occasion of Victory Day. There, while tying the flag to the iron rod, he slipped and fell on the electric wire nearby and was electrocuted. In this situation, while trying to save his father, son Shafi was electrocuted and died on the spot. Sariakandi police station officer-in-charge (OC) Rajesh Kumar Chakraborty said Shafi’s body has been handed over to the family members. And the injured Mahfuzar’s physical condition is critical.
