A five-day painting exhibition on history and heritage was inaugurated in Khulna under the initiative of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy.

The opening ceremony of the five-day painting exhibition on the history and heritage of Khulna district, organized by Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy, was held today (Wednesday) evening at the open stage of Khulna District Shilpakala Academy. Director General of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy Liaquat Ali Lucky was the chief guest on the occasion. In the speech of the chief guest, the Director General said, Bangladesh would not have been created if Bangabandhu was not born. Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman wanted to bring a revolution in the cultural field as well as building a happy and prosperous Bangladesh. For this reason, Bangabandhu established the Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy on February 19, 1974. We are taking this art academy of Bangabandhu’s dream forward under the leadership of the Prime Minister. The activities of this institution are now being expanded from 64 districts to 491 upazilas. He said, there is no alternative to cultural practice along with studies. Shilpakala Academy is for practicing healthy culture. Director General said that a plan will be taken to build a cultural center centered on the family home of great poet Rabindranath Tagore in Dakshindihi of Fultala upazila of Khulna. Khulna Additional Deputy Commissioner (Education and ICT) Mukul Kumar Maitra presided over the event as special guests, Prof. Anwarul Qadir, General Secretary of Umeshchandra Public Library, Sheikh Sadi Bhuiyan, Associate Professor of Sculpture Discipline of Khulna University and Head of Department of Drawing and Painting Discipline and School of Fine Arts. Associate Professor Rakib Hasan. District Cultural Officer Sujit Kumar Saha delivered the welcome address on the occasion. Starting today, the five-day painting exhibition will be open to all from 3 pm to 8 pm every day. This exhibition will continue with 30 paintings drawn by 15 artists.

Khulna 3 people were detained with deer meat in a special operation by Dakop police station in Khulna. According to police sources, Dakop police station arrested three people with 22 kg deer meat in a raid based on secret information. A smart team of Dakop Police Station under the guidance of Dakop Police Station Officer-in-Charge Ujjal Kumar Dutta conducted the operation based on secret information. In the said operation, 3 people were arrested with sacks of deer meat from East Khejuria village of Ward No. 7 of Banishanta Union on the 8th (March) at approximately 4 pm. Accused are (1) Raju Khan father- Aziz Khan, Sang- East Khejuria, Banishanta (2) Shafiq Howladar (3) Both fathers of Saidur Howladar- Yusuf Howladar, Sang- West Dhangmari, Banishanta. Dakop Thana Police registered the case and sent the accused to Khulna Jail under special guard.
