The court sentenced a young man named Mamun Sheikh (40) to life imprisonment for possession of heroin in Sirajganj. At the same time 20 thousand taka fine has been given for 1 year without labor.

Judge Fazle Khoda Md Nazir of Sirajganj District and Sessions Judge Court gave this prison sentence at around 12 noon on Wednesday (August 30).

Convicted Mamun Sheikh is the son of deceased Nurul Islam Sheikh Mahan of Mahmudpur Mohalla of Sirajganj Municipal area. Rashedul Islam, Stenographer of the District and Sessions Judge’s Court confirmed this fact and said that the convict Mamun Sheikh is absconding.

According to the details of the case, on May 27, 2018, the Sirajganj detective police conducted an operation to recover narcotics in the area of Sadar police station. During the raid, the DB police came to know that drugs were being sold in Mahmudpur Mohalla of the municipal area. On the basis of such information, DB Police conducted a raid in front of Mahmudpur Jugantar Sangsad Club. Mamun Sheikh was arrested with 90 grams of heroin.

In this incident, Sirajganj Detective Police Sub-Inspector (SI) Yasin Arafat filed a case at Sadar Police Station as the plaintiff. During the course of the case, the court accepted the testimony of 10 witnesses. After the testimony, the court sentenced Mamun Sheikh to life imprisonment today.
