Through the tension, Senior journalist Farida Yasmin has been elected as the president of the National Press Club for the second consecutive time. Shyamal Dutta, editor of Bhorer paper, has been elected to the post of general editor. The election of the management committee was held yesterday Saturday (December 31) at the National Press Club. In the election, Farida Yasmin and Shyamal Dutta contested for the post of President-Editor from the Journalist Forum Panel of Awam panthi journalists. Rezwanul Haque Raja was elected as vice-president by getting 583 votes. On the contrary, Syed Ali Asfar got 359 votes. Shyamal Dutt got 496 votes for the post of general secretary. Ilyas Khan got 474 votes from BNP supported panel. Ayub Bhuiyan and Ashraf Ali were elected as joint editors with 54 votes and 491 votes. On the contrary, Ilyas Hossain got 431 votes and Saidul Hossain Shahed got 269 votes. Shahed Chowdhury won the post of treasurer by getting 576 votes. On the contrary Shahnewaz Dulal 208 votes, Md. Hasan Sharif got 181 votes. 10 members have been elected to the management committee. Among them Farid Hossain 495 votes, Kazi Rawnak Hasan 422 votes, Shahnaz Siddiqui Soma 390 votes, Kalyan Saha 382 votes, Shahnaz Begum Poli 360 votes, Syed Abdal Ahmed 347 votes, Julhas Alam 345 votes, Bakhtiar Rana 330 votes, Mohammad Momin Hossain 330 votes. Votes and Boundaries Khokon was elected with 289 votes.
