BGB, Narcotics Control Department arrest 3 with drugs and cash in joint operation at Sonamasjid border

A joint operation by the BGB and the Narcotics Control Department at the Sonamasjid border in Shibganj upazila of Chapainawabganj has recovered narcotics and cash.
03 accused have been arrested.
Today, July 21, 2025, at 08:00 AM, a joint operation was conducted by the BGB and the Chapainawabganj Narcotics Control Department at the house of Md. Amir Hossain in Pirojpur village of Shahabajpur union under Shibganj police station, approximately 200 yards inside Bangladesh from the border pillar 185/2-S in the area of responsibility of the Sonamasjid BOP under the Mahananda Battalion (59 BGB). In the said operation, the accused, Md. Amir Hossain (owner of the house), father-Md. Habibur Rahman, Md. Bahadur Hossain (25), father-Md. Habibur Rahman and Md. Jasmine (25), husband-Md. Jamir Hossain, all of village-Pirojpur, post-Sonam Masjid, police station-Shibganj, district-Chapainawabganj, were arrested along with 89 bottles of Indian Phensidyl, 565 pieces of Yaba and cash of Tk 11,28,000.00. Legal action is being taken against the accused and the seized narcotics and cash.
In this regard, Commander of Mahananda Battalion (59 BGB) Lt. Col. Golam Kibria, BGBM, BGOM confirmed the truth of the matter. He said that operational activities in the border areas will be increased and more joint operations will be conducted if necessary to implement the zero tolerance policy against drugs and smuggling.
