Information Adviser Md Nahid Islam has said that that the upstream water has surged into Bangladesh, creating a flood situation.

The dam was opened without any prior warning or opportunity for preparation, showcasing India’s inhumanity and non-cooperation with Bangladesh.

He made these remarks during a press briefing in front of the state guesthouse Jamuna after a meeting of the interim government’s advisory council on Thursday.

Environment, Forest, and Climate Change Adviser Syeda Rizwana Hasan and Youth and Sports Adviser Asif Mahmud also spoke on the occasion.

The information adviser said: “We hope that India will quickly abandon such anti-people policies towards Bangladesh. The students and citizens of Bangladesh are angry about India’s stance.”

Nahid Islam further mentioned that a proper solution must be found for how the people of Bangladesh and India can be jointly protected from such natural disasters.

“The people of Bangladesh have long been protesting and speaking out for their rightful share of water,” he added.

The information adviser expressed hope that there would be no strain in the relationship between Bangladesh and India and that the bilateral relationship would be reestablished on the basis of fairness.
