The Ministry of Home Affairs issued a notification on Thursday directing the former prime minister, advisers, former cabinet members, and all members of the recently dissolved National Parliament to surrender their diplomatic passports.
The directive also applies to the individual’s family members.
The notification, signed by Faisal Hasan, senior information officer of the Ministry of Home Affairs, outlines the procedure for issuing general passports upon the surrender of diplomatic passports.
The Security Service Division of the ministry has established a policy in this regard.According to the policy, individuals who apply for general passports may receive them based on reports from at least two investigative agencies.
This was detailed in a letter signed by Md Kamruzzaman, deputy secretary of the Immigration-4 Branch of the Security Service Division of the Ministry of Home Affairs, which was also sent to the director general of the Department of Immigration and Passports.
