4 people including a police officer were killed by a train in Comilla.

Four persons, including a retired police officer and a woman, were killed when a CNG-powered auto-rickshaw on the Laksam-Noakhali railway line in Comilla was knocked down by a train while crossing a railway crossing. Another passenger was injured. Deputy Inspector (SI) of Laxam Railway Police Station Abul Hossain said that the incident took place at Tuguria Rail Crossing area in Adra South Union of Nangalkot Upazila of Noakhali-Laksam Railway at around 10:30 am on Tuesday (December 6). The accident site is located in the border area of Manoharganj and Nangalkot upazilas of the district but it falls under Nangalkot upazila. The deceased are – Masudur Rahman (65), a passenger in a CNG-driven auto-rickshaw (retired police officer), son of Siddikur Rahman of Manoharganj Upazila’s Uttar Howla village. Mohammad Habib (22), son of Abu Taher of the same village, The CNG driver is Shahidul Islam (40), son of Tofazzal Hossain of North Howla village. Mohibul Begum (35), wife of Afzalur Rahman of Dakshin Shaktali village of Nangalkot upazila. The name and identity of the injured passenger was not immediately known. However, the locals said that his condition is critical. According to police and local sources, the accident took place with the Laxam bound ‘Noakhali Express’ train leaving Noakhali. The CNG-powered auto-rickshaw suddenly got on the railway track and came in front of the train, causing the auto-rickshaw to twist and turn due to the impact of the train. Three passengers were killed on the spot. The driver later died at a private hospital in Laksam around 11:30 pm. Police received information that another passenger was injured. However, detailed information about him is not yet known. Initially, they said, the CNG autorickshaw was going to Khila Bazar from Munsirhat Bazar in North Howla Union of Manoharganj. The bodies of the deceased were taken away by their relatives. And train movement has been normalized by removing the accident-related CNG auto-rickshaw. Nangalkot Thana Police, Manoharganj Thana-Police, Laksam GRP Police are present at the scene and are in the process of taking legal action.
