Khulna Three foreign ships have arrived in Mongla carrying steel pipes for Bangabandhu Railway Bridge and machinery for Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant. On Sunday (January 22) in the morning and afternoon, the Panama flag ship ‘MV Kui Ya Shan’ anchored with 3352.389 metric tons of steel pipe of Bangabandhu Railway Bridge at Jetty No. 7 of the port. At the same time, another Panama flagged ship called ‘Liberty Harvest’ anchored at Jetty No. 8 of the port. 4716.026 metric tons of machinery products of Rooppur nuclear power plant have been brought in this ship. On the same day at noon, the Russian flag ship ‘MV Kamilla’ anchored at jetty number 9 of the port with machinery products of Rooppur power plant. The ship anchored with 3633 metric tons of cargo. The Harbor Department of Mongla Port Authority informed this information. Shaukat Ali, who is the Khulna shipping agent of Haque & Sons, the shipping agent of the foreign ship MV Kui Ya Shan, said, “The ship anchored in the morning with 3352 metric tons of goods in 238 packages. After that the redemption process of those products started. So far under them, 46 thousand 351 metric tons of steel pipes of 2 thousand 560 packages have been brought in 13 ships. On the other hand, Shaheen Iqbal, the director of shipping agent Interpert of the foreign ship ‘Liberty Harvest’, which brought the machinery products of Rooppur Power Plant, said that after anchoring at Jetty No. 8 of the port on Sunday morning with the goods of Rooppur Power Plant, the unloading of goods from the ship started. After these products are fully discharged within four days, they will be delivered by road and sea to the under-construction Rooppur Power Plant at Ishwardi in Pabna. 14 thousand 475 packages of 416 metric tons of power plant machinery products have been brought in this ship. About 2:00 p.m., 3,633 metric tons of 5,506 packages of 3,633 metric tons of the power plant’s products were brought by the Russian-flagged ship ‘MV Kamilla’, said Sadhan Kumar Chakraborty, the manager of operations of Conveyor Shipping Lines, the shipping agent of this ship. Chairman of Mongla Port Authority, Rear Admiral Mohammad Musa said, “The goods of almost all the projects under construction in the country are now being cleared through Mongla Port on a special priority basis.” Traders are getting interested in using this port as these goods are cleared quickly with modern methods and skilled manpower.
